Southview came from forestry and logging roots. When we began to see a need in the hydroelectric construction industry for people who can provide solutions for steep slope activities, we knew right away that the skyline yarding winch would become the basis for steep slope support.

We use 90’ Skyline Yarders with multiple winches to get the job done for our clients. Essentially a “clothesline” that is placed above the worksite, these towers can lift great capcacities, then ferry them to a location up or down the hill. As a self contained and self propelled unit, they are able to MOB into some of the most rugged locations in the world. Unlike a crane, they have low operating costs and the rigger is right where the load is to be placed.

We have multiple units so no job is too big or small. Using a two unit system, we can create lift and deflection where there is none and bridge distances far in excess of 2000 feet.

Whether pulling temporary bridges across rugged creek draws, pulling 7 lengths of 80” x 60’ penstock pipe uphill using a multipart block (weighing in excess of 168000 lbs), or flying excavators and supplies in for constructing surface pedestals, no job is too challenging or unique for our steep slope system.
